<p>We are in the beginning rounds of a heavyweight title fight. The prize, not a big fancy gold belt, but the future of online business commerce.</p>
<p>I just got done giving a presentation on Google vs. Facebook and the many other Social Media options readily available. Social Media is changing the way businesses are engaging prospects and clients online. So, who is going to win this heavyweight title fight. In my humble opinion both companies win and we have two 800 pound gorillas (they already are) competing for the online crowd attention and searches.</p>
<p>It is imperative that businesses fully leverage the search engines and Social Media to their maximum potential. The old phonebook advertising of the past just doesn&#8217;t work the way it use to. People go online to find businesses they are looking for. It is the now and future of finding people to call or visit your business. Anything search related a business can do to increase its Page1 online exposure is imperative to a businesses survival. Many businesses have been busy optimizing their websites, running pay per click campaigns, blogging, video marketing, article marketing etc. These guys are smart and will reap long term benefit from their online work. Calculated, methodical, incremental changes pay huge dividends to those businesses optimizing their sites. <p>The year was 1997 and I was the CEO of a a fast-growing, data networking business. We were experts in most anything computer related and spent days and nights learning, repairing, and networking computers for &#8221;Corporate America&#8221; businesses. Some big, some small and many right in between.</p>
<p>It was during this time that we had the honor and privilege of being hired by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to perform critical data analysis, extraction and expert testimony for them. Ultimately, our work helped lead to the prosecution and conviction of multiple criminals.</p>
<p>The experience, I received from a business and personal standpoint was immeasurable. We learned what it was like to be trusted and counted on by the FBI and how important our work was in getting some criminals off the street and protecting American citizens.  </p>
<p>I will never forget the FBI Special Agents we worked with and how professional and honorable they were. Nice guys, professional in everything they said and did. A ten on a scale of 1-10. These guys were good, real good. Made me proud to be an American taxpayer, with the quality of people on the USA Government payroll.</p>

Today, I was happy to share some business results with a CEO of a leading manufacturing company located in Los Angeles, California. I have been making small, daily incremental adjustments to their Google Adwords campaign to improve quality of Ad spend. One test I have been performing is Ad improvement. I selected one of their top keyword phrases and ran ad comparisons side-by-side. By mmaking one slight change to the ad copy we improved the CTR of this ad by over 100%! Needless to say the CEO was impressed and very thankful. What does a higher CTR mean to this business. Well, many things. But, the bottom line is just that, the bottom line just got improved. Most people look at making money from google Adwords, we take it a step further. We look at ways to save money from Google Adwords, by improving CTR and keyword to business relevance. So, remember to split test your ads to achieve better results and better ad spend.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>One of my great clients invited me to a Social Media seminar yesterday. The seminar was put on by eBoot Camps and was three hours well spent. At break, I spoke with Corey, the owner of eBoot Camps and enjoyed sharing information on the industry and where it is heading.</p>
<p>Here is my take:</p>
<p>Social Media is not a fad and is here to stay. It will not replace Google. Google will continue to reinvent itself and will acquire companies along the way to always dominate, for the foreseeable future. </p>
<p>The big question I was looking to get answered yesterday was this. Should businesses invest their time in Social Media? If so, how and why? It took me about 24 hours to fully digest the content and here is my conclusion.  Yes, businesses do need to invest time into a Social Media strategy as a segment of an overall marketing budget. So why should a business be Tweeting, Facebooking, LinkedIn&#8217;ing (is that even a word?) and all the other options available today?  Well, in my opinion there may not be direct ROI of time and dollars invested (certain industries like food &amp; beverage, retail etc. can see an immediate ROI), but the indirect cash flow may really be where the benefit is earned. In my humble opinion, I see the real benefit of Social Media it creating &#8220;Top of Mind Marketing&#8221; awareness for your business.</p>
<p>The more people see your logo, brand, images and information the more they begin to develop trust in your business. Good consistent content that is relevant to the user and has the user&#8217;s benefit in mind is what will eventually pay dividends on your investment.</p>
<p>So, should you be Tweeting, Facebooking, LinkedIn&#8217;ing as part of an overall online marketing strategy. Yes, but proceed with caution and understand what works in the Social Media space. If you require assistance, I am here to help.</p>
